My first writing vlog!
Hi friends! I have finally launched my first blog for my writing journey here. I am currently about 35-36k words into my current draft (definitely not my first one, probably more like 10th to be honest) with a much sharper outline that I am working with. This project is something I began in 2003, so it has been shaped, sculpted, and worked on, picked apart, you name it — for years now! I’m finally in a good place with this draft since having my last kiddo (5th!) in the Fall of 2023 to now, chipping away at it with all the final changes I decided to make from scraping characters, to developing the story much deeper than I had ever done before. All because I saw a video of another girl who was accepted by an agent on TikTok. That video, if I could ever find it again, ignited the desire to finish this 20 year project out and have the confidence to pursue being traditionally published.
Recently, I went to the Las Vegas writers conference and met some beautiful people, heard some amazing stories read out loud, and realized that this world of writing is SO much bigger, and SO much more than I ever imagined it to be. I just turned 37 on the 14th of April, (today is the 23rd as I’m writing this), and I am pushing pushing pushing to get this manuscript finished by June/July this year so I can get it into edit and then begin navigating the waters to query.
I am SO excited to post this, and to finally get this world out of my head and onto paper to share with everyone else who’d be interested in diving into Vim with me.
Stay tuned as I have so much more to update! Right now we are at the tail end of all the sports seasons for cheer and taekwondo for my kids and their travel dates for tournaments, along with school about to close out for this school year in May, so a ton is going on in the upcoming weeks. Lots of late nights, lots of planning, lots of staying disciplined to see this through!
